Where do we walk?

Exploring Caradon Hill

One of our walks takes you through the rugged beauty of Caradon Hill, nestled in the heart of Bodmin Moor. This historic landscape is rich with the legacy of Cornwall’s mining past, and our route follow parts of the original tramway paths once used to transport tin, copper and stone from the quarries and mines scattered across the hillside. These trails offer a fascinating journey back in time, winding their way from the industrial remnants of Caradon Hill down into the charming village of Minions.

As we walk, you'll discover a landscape shaped by nature, geology and history. The ruins of the old engine houses, quarry pits, and stone tramways are surrounded by sweeping moorland that bursts with wildlife. From grazing sheep and wild moorland horses to a variety of birds and cattle, there's often something to see. The open terrain and elevated paths mean you'll often spot wildlife at a distance, with the moor’s natural rhythms providing a tranquil soundtrack to your walk.

The views from Caradon Hill are simply spectacular. On a clear day, you can see across much of Cornwall and into Devon with rolling moors stretching to the coast in the distance. Whether you're here for the history, the wildlife, or just the peace and quiet of the moor, every walk is a chance to connect with the unique landscape and heritage of this special part of Cornwall
